Hey Reader
Welcome to the very first edition of The Wednesday Story Reset.
Before we begin, here’s what you can expect every Wednesday at 7:00 AM (apologies for today's delay):
• One story you can reuse - and exactly where you can use it
• One Practical Insight - tools, techniques, and concepts to improve your storytelling & public speaking
• One deeper shift - something about mindset, beliefs, and building a stronger voice
• And occasionally, updates about what I’m building and what’s coming next
Simple. Useful. Real.
Let’s begin
1. One Story You Can Reuse
Small Efforts Matter
Early one morning, an elderly man was walking along a beach covered with thousands of stranded starfish.
Ahead of him, he noticed a young boy bending down, picking up one starfish at a time, and throwing it back into the sea.
Curious, the elderly man walked up and said,
“There are thousands of them. The tide has gone out too far. You can’t possibly make a difference.”
The young boy picked up another starfish, gently tossed it into the water, and replied:
“It made a difference to that one.”
And then he continued.
Where You Can Reuse This Story
This story works beautifully when you want to:
• Motivate a team that feels overwhelmed
• Encourage consistency over intensity
• Inspire students or trainees
• Open a keynote about impact
• Share a LinkedIn post about daily effort
• Remind your audience why small actions compound
Structure to remember:
Overwhelming situation → Doubt or skepticism → Small action → Meaningful impact
Simple. Memorable. Powerful.
2. One Insight: Don’t Be a Statue. Don’t Be a Pendulum.
When speakers get on stage, they usually fall into one of two traps:
🔹 The Statue — rooted to one spot, barely moving.
🔹 The Pendulum — pacing left to right without purpose.
Neither builds authority.
What you need instead is stage orchestration.
Stage orchestration means:
- Move with intention.
- Pause with purpose.
- Anchor key ideas to specific physical spots.
- Let your movement reflect the emotional shift of the story.
For example:
- Stay still during a powerful, emotional line.
- Step forward when delivering a key takeaway.
- Shift position when transitioning from problem to solution.
Movement is not decoration.
It is direction.
When your body supports your story, your credibility multiplies.
3. One Stronger Voice Shift
Many professionals delay action because they believe:
“I’ll start when I can make a big impact.”
But confidence is not built in grand gestures.
It is built in small returns to the sea.
One conversation.
One post.
One story.
One attempt.
You may not change the whole room.
But you will change something.
And that is enough to strengthen your voice.
